The good thing about this blog is that not many people read it! Those that do follow it are into the whole "yard sale" thing. Anyway, I figured I needed more of a plan. Since I began this wait, my rule was yardsales on Saturday Mornings and I could not spend more than $20. If I spent the whole $20, that meant no shopping elsewhere and no movie that weekend. It was satisfying my need to nest and shop at a fraction of the cost. Especially when I'm currently on the "EXTREME BUDGETING" plan that I've created for myself. Anyway, I'm loving all of my finds and almost shopped out. (right, lol) Now, I need to add to my plan. I am sorting clothes out by size in clear plastic totes with labels on them. (shown below) Stacking and Storing. I even broke down and did spreadsheets on what I have!

Insane? Absolutely!

Makin' the wait easier? Absolutely!

So, here are some of the totes that I have now. See, I know, there is a lot. But I usually can get really nice clothes for 50¢ or $1. I've gotta say, it's the "trill of the bargain" too. I got a couple of gymboree seperates for only 25¢ a piece. It was completely amazing. They were in perfect condition!! Anyway, I am limiting myself to only a couple of totes per size. I don't really worry if she doesn't wear them, I can sell them for the same price or actually get more at this local resale store. They buy clothes upfront...no consigning. Can't beat it.

How Patriotic

Okay, I cam across this cute little dress while I was shopping for a Birthday gift and a Baby Shower Gift. It ended up being $8. So, I had a decision...a movie or a dress. Guess it's obvious what I picked. :) I just LOVE it!

My Finds

Everything here was 50¢ except for the cute little yellow sweater at the bottom, which was much more expensive. It was $1. Ha. Ha. At one sale, she had a bunch of Gymboree seperates for 25¢ each. It was a good day.

Cleaning Barbies & Dolls

Basic Cleaning – Face & Body
Use warm water and a mild cleanser or mild liquid dishwashing soap. Dry with a soft cloth.
Hard to Clean Parts
Try Soft Scrub and a cotton ball, just use care around her face, 409 - degreasing the body, rubbing alcohol, Acetone Finger nail polish remover Use extreme caution when using. Be careful, alcohol or nail polish remover can remove the paint. Use a a can of air spray or a blunt toothpick to clean out crevices.
Removing Magic Marker or Ink Pen Marks
Clearasil. Just apply a little on the affected are and let it dry, then scrape it off gently.
Basic Cleaning – Hair
Keeping a Barbie's hair clean is an easy thing because you can shampoo it with regular shampoo. This makes it easy and fun because the doll can share the bathtub with the child and they can both have their hair washed at the same time. To remove tangles, mix together one tablespoon of fabric softener with two cups warm water. If it is matted, wash it with GooGone, then soak it in fabric softener. You can also use mild liquid dishwahsing soap. Rinse and style. Be sure to never allow a blow dryer to be used, the heat can melt the doll
Frizzy Hair
Soak the hair in full strength fabric softener for about ½ hour. Comb out. Then rinse as much of the softener. Dont rub the hair otherwise you will end up with the frizzys again. Then use dishsoap and squeeze it thru the hair trying not to rub the hair. Rinse again under the faucet. Use a towel to squeeze the excess water then comb/brush again but make sure the comb or brush is clean.
Curl Hair
Curl the hair around straws or plastic tubing. Hold it in place with a bobby pins while it dries. Or after the curlers are in dip the head in boiling water for a few seconds, then pour ice water over it, then let is sit for about 15 minutes and then take the curlers out.

Another Saturday, Another Yardsale

Another Saturday, Another Yardsale. How very true!! Found a few little bargains today. Everything you see in this post was only $1 each.

You know that's how I like it!!! I also bought an unfinished corner hutch for $20 and a UNUSED top-of-stairs baby gate for $5. I even checked. The hardware was still in the sealed plastic bag. At Target, the same exact one is $64.99. Boy, was that a great deal.
